On 18th November, the winner of the prestigious Newcastle Poetry Prize was announced: Kevin Smith, for his poem The Crossing. 5 Islands poet and managing editor Mark Tredinnick was awarded second prize for his poem Lines for Late Winter; Or, the Reef Heron, while Jo Garner took out third place with A Country Childhood.
Our heartiest congratulation to all the prize winners, and all whose poems were shortlisted for this important award, including 5 Islands poet Robyn Rowland.
