5 Islands Poets feature in Newcastle Shortlist





Two 5 Islands Press poets featured in the prestigious Newcastle Poetry Prize shortlist announced recently. Mark Tredinnick (who is also the managing editor of 5 Islands Press) and Robyn Rowland each had two poems selected for the shortlist. Congratulatting the shortlisted entrants, the shortlist. University of Newcastle Pro Vice-Chancellor Human and Social Futures, Professor John Fischetti noted that being shortlisted for the Newcastle Poetry Prize is 'a noteworthy acknowledgement of their work' as ' The Newcastle Poetry Prize is one of the most significant poetry prizes in Australia.’


Mark's shortlisted poems were Lines for Late Winter; Or, the Reef Heron and Fall. Robyn's were To Illumine and The Quiet Patience of the Street. All shortlisted poems will be included in the anthology associated with the [prize. which will be published early in 2024.
